The Mindfulness Project

The Mindful Project works to empower students and athletes to reach their potential through physical and mental activities that focus on mindfulness in their day-to-day lives.

Mindfulness is being fully present in the moment and aware of our thoughts and feelings – without judgment, distraction, or confusion. Mindfulness helps us to focus more on our positive thoughts while moving past the negative ones. This allows us to have measured and appropriate responses to the things happening around us, instead of reactions fueled by stress or anxiety. As we learn to acknowledge our thoughts and feelings without judgment, we can better respond to our environment in a calm and productive way. Mindfulness also gives us the tools to recognize and move past negative self-talk. Instead, it trains our brains to embrace mistakes and setbacks as exciting opportunities for personal growth. In this way, being mindful boosts our confidence and increases positive thoughts and emotions.
Complimentary At-Home Program:
Amazingly, they have offered all of CMFSC members the option to try a free program. You can access the curriculum here - https://www.mindfulproject.ca/client-pages/at-home-learning. Week one is up and available with three days of activities athletes can complete at home. New programming will be updated each week. The target age is 8-12 years old, but the concepts are applicable to all ages.
The Mindful Project was started by Erin McLeod and Dr. Rachel Lindvall. Erin is a professional athlete, playing soccer in Europe. She previously was the starting goalkeeper for the Canadian Women's National team (two-time Olympian) and was inducted into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 2019. Dr. Rachel Lindvall, is a university professor and women's soccer coach with a Doctorate in Mindfulness Research.
