CMFSC U13 Metro & U13 - U18 Division 1 & 2 Player Evaluations Update

Information about our 2020 U13 Metro, U13-U18 Div 1 & 2 Evaluations (June 11th, 2020)

As our soccer community navigates through the impact of COVID-19, one of the areas that will be altered due to the pandemic is our CMFSC evaluation process for certain levels and age groups.  

Traditionally, all evaluations for U13 – U18 divisional teams would be completed with on-field sessions during the spring months, however due to the pandemic and social distancing restriction our selection timing has been delayed and the evaluation process has been adjusted for the 2020-2021 season.  

As we try to navigate and plan throughout these difficult times, we will continue to make decisions with integrity with the goal to place players on teams where their development will continue to thriveSelections will be made based on the following: 

  • Coach Year-End Evaluations 

  • Age Group Head Coach Evaluation (when applicable) 

  • Previous Season Player Evaluation 

  • BCSPL or Metro Player Evaluation 

Below are the steps that will be taken to confirm rosters for the 2020/2021 season: 

Step 1 – All Players must be registered for the Fall/Winter League Division 3 in their respective age group by June 24th to be considered for a divisional roster spot. Players selected for higher divisions, will be manually moved into the correct division.  

*Players registered only for Evaluations, will need to additionally register for the full Fall/Winter League Division 3 program. The $25 paid for evaluations will automatically be subtracted from the league fees.  

Step 2 - Once all registrations have been received, CMFSC technical staff will facilitate a selection meeting with each team’s head coach to confirm rosters. This process will proceed sequentially, starting with Division 1. 

Step 3 As with past seasons, team head coaches will send out invites to selected players. Players will have 24 hours to accept or decline a position on the team. *Once a player accepts a position on a team, no refunds will be granted (see Refund Policy).  

Step 4 Once all rosters are confirmed, CMFSC will communicate with any players that we are unable to roster for next season to possibly provide a full refund or go on a waitlist.  

While this process will be much different than normal evaluations CMFSC is confident that our past knowledge of the players and season ending player evaluations will guide us through the completion of this process. Technical staff may make adjustments to player placement throughout the coming season if necessary.   

FAQ’s 

How many Divisional teams will be selected?  

  • CMFSC club technical staff will make final decisions in regard to the number of teams confirmed in each age group after assessing both the ability and number of players that register. 

 

How many players will be selected for each team?  

  • Ideal number of players confirmed for each team will be 15-17. This will allow potential promotion of players from lower levels IF identified by our technical staff during the season. 

 

How will I know if I have been selected to the program?  

  • Players will receive an email if they have been selected by team’s head coach. 

 

How will I know if I have not been selected to the program?  

  • CMFSC will inform any registered player in cases where we are unable to accommodate a roster spot for the 2020/2021 season. 

   

What if I am ‘new’ to CMFSC?  

  • Any ‘new’ players to CMFSC that have not attended any evaluation process in 2020 (BCSPL/Metro) or previously played at CMFSC will be placed at a level that our club can accommodate. During the 2020/2021 season our technical staff will be in communication with all team coaches and if a player is identified to be playing above their current team level CMFSC technical staff will make the adjustment if needed.

What is the timeline of this process?   

  • Since this is a new process for the club, we do not have a firm timeline in place, but all teams will be confirmed for Metro, Division 1, and Division 2 by July 31st, 2020. Division 3 teams will be confirmed by August 15th
