Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club Domenic Mobilio Bursary Fund Recipients 2024

Posted on: June 17, 2024

We are thrilled to announce the first recipients of the Domenic Mobilio Bursary: Adrian Cosman and Kayla Hong. These two long-time CMFSC members started with Coquitlam Metro-Ford early in their youth and are set to graduate this June, 2024. From a large pool of applicants, these two players were selected based on their exemplary academic achievements, playing history with CMFSC, further participation in sport, and acts of volunteerism within the community.

The recipients of this scholarship carry on Domenic's legacy and contribute positively to our community, reflecting his enduring impact.

Domenic Mobilio served as Coquitlam Metro-Ford’s Technical Director until his sudden passing in 2004. Known affectionately as ‘DoMo,’ he was a standout in the Canadian Soccer League, holding the record as the league’s top scorer. He also represented Canada internationally, earning 25 caps and scoring three goals. In 2001, the Whitecaps retired his number 10 jersey and established the Domenic Mobilio Golden Boot Award, presented to the club’s leading scorer.

Beyond his achievements in soccer, Domenic had a profound impact on our Coquitlam community. As CMFSC's Technical Director, many of our staff coaches had the privilege of working with him, being coached by him, and forming friendships with him. We continue to honor his legacy through events like the Mobilio Friendship Jamboree, and by proudly displaying his number 10 on the back of our camp shirts.
