Team Name Guidelines

Team names will be established beginning at the Under 8 age group and will remain with the team as it progresses through the Club pathway. Team names will carry forward with the team until the team reaches either Under 11 Division 1/2 or Under 13 Division 3, at which point a new team name may be selected if desired.

Under 8–Under 10 Recreation/Development teams and Under 11–Under 12 Recreation teams may not change their team name without prior approval from CMFSC staff.

BCCSL Teams

Teams participating in the BCCSL must have a unique team name that is not currently being used by any other CMFSC team participating in the BCCSL, regardless of gender, age group, or competitive level.

Selecting a team name is an exciting opportunity for players to build a shared identity and create a sense of belonging within their team. CMFSC encourages teams to involve players in the selection process and to choose a name that positively represents the group, the Club, and the values of sportsmanship, respect, and inclusion.

Prohibited Team Names

Team names or branding that contain profanity, obscenities, discriminatory language, or words, images, or sentiments that may be considered offensive, inappropriate, or inconsistent with the Club's values and principles of sportsmanship are not permitted.

Teams that are notified by the Club that their team name or branding does not comply with this guideline will be required to make the necessary changes. CMFSC reserves the right to reject, modify, remove, or require the alteration of any team name, nickname, slogan, or branding that does not comply with this guideline.

Teams are also not permitted to use the names 'Wolves' or 'Whitecaps'.
