Building the William Azzi Memorial Scholarship Fund

Posted on: March 27, 2025

Following the passing of William Azzi in October 2024, the William Azzi Memorial Scholarship has been established to continue his lifelong commitment to youth development through education and sport. Known to many as ‘Mr. Azzi’, he was a visionary soccer coach, administrator, teacher, and community leader who dedicated his life to fostering youth development through education and sport. He was a pioneering force in the development of both youth and adult soccer across the lower mainland, and his contributions were instrumental in shaping the soccer community in Coquitlam. In 1984, he co-founded the Metro-Ford Soccer Club and dedicated himself to nurturing individual players and building championship teams, helping establish what is now a thriving youth and adult soccer club. This scholarship aims to support aspiring soccer players and students in their educational and athletic pursuits.
