Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club (CMFSC) Staff Coaches Bios
CMFSC is proud to offer an extremely qualified staff. These coaches work in our Initiation Academy, Player Development Academy, High Performance Academy, Goalkeeping Academy, plus other initiatives by the club.
Dale Mitchell – Director of Coaching - Dale is the all-time leading scorer for Canada (10 goals, ’80-’93) and is a Canada Soccer Hall of Fame Member. He represented Canada at the World Cup (Mexico, ’86) and in the Olympics (Los Angeles, ’84). He has played professionally in NASL (’77-’83), MISL (’83-’93) & CSL (’88-’94). Dale coached Canada (’07-’09), Canada Under 20’s (’01-’07), and Vancouver Whitecaps (’99-’01). Dale holds a A-National Coaching License.
Sara Maglio – Technical Director CMFSC - Sara is entering her season as Technical Director. Sara played youth soccer for Coquitlam United & Coquitlam City Soccer. She went on to play on Provincial teams, to SFU where she won All American honours for 4 years, as well as a National Championship. Sara was a member of the U/20 National team and then the Canadian National team where she played in the 1999 World Cup. From 2001 to 2005 she played for the Vancouver Whitecaps and was a part of the 2004 Championship team which was inducted into the BC Sports Hall of Fame in 2007.
Alfredo Valente – Head Coach Boys Under 8 to Under 12 & Head Coach of Technical Programs CMFSC Alfredo is entering his fifth season as Head Coach of CMFSC. Alfredo played youth soccer for the Metro-Ford Soccer Club. He went on to play on Provincial Teams, on the U/17 National Team, the U/20 National Team, and was a member of the 2000 Canadian Olympic team. Professionally, Alfredo played for the Edmonton Drillers of the MISL and from 1998 to 2008 played for the Vancouver Whitecaps. In 1998 he was selected Rookie of the Year and currently ranked second in all time assists for the club.
Andrea Maloney (Poole) – Head Coach Girls Under 8 to Under 12
Andrea was a member of Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club’s Premier Women’s team and has strong ties with Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club as she coached our graduating U18 Metro team last season. Andrea is currently the Head Coach of our U15 Metro Girls team and coached the Girls Under 16 Y-League this past season. Andrea holds a B-Prep coaching certificate and has had a long a successful playing career. She has played in the W-League for the Fort Collins Force, played her varsity soccer at Simon Fraser University and Jacksonville State University. She also played on the Provincial teams from Under 14 through to Under 20 winning two National Championships.
Phebe Trotman – Head Coach of Initiation Academy
Phebe is a member of Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club’s Premier Women’s team and has strong ties with Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club. Phebe has had a very long and successful playing career starting with Coquitlam City Soccer, the club that she played for as a youth player. Phebe then went on to play at Simon Fraser University where she was a two time All-American and the Vancouver Whitecaps Women’s team where she was the league MVP in 2003. She also won a National Championship with both SFU and the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Andrea Heald (Sumner) – Girls High Performance Academy
Andrea comes to us with a strong coaching and playing background. Andrea grew up playing in Port Coquitlam and went on to play for Provincial Teams and then onto SFU where, she played Women’s Varsity soccer and as Captain took the team to a National Championship. She was also the captain of Surrey United Women’s Premiere team, five-time Provincial Champions and 2006 National Champions. Recently, Andrea has been extensively involved in community soccer working for CMFSC in our Academies as well is currently the Head Coach to our Under 17 Metro Girls team and was also the Head Coach of the Under 15 Girls Y-League team this past summer.
Danny Jones – Boys Player Academies
Danny has been a long time player & coach with CMFSC and is considered one of our top coaches in our club. He currently coaches our 1996 CMF Barca in the U14 Select Division and has been a coach for the BC Summer games team in previous years. Most recently he coached our Under 13 Boys Y-League team which was our only boy’s team to advance to the National Championship in Florida. His playing experience includes playing many years in the PCSL, VMSL, & FVSL. He also played on the Vancouver 86ers and spent time playing in England. Danny holds a B-Provincial license.
Dennis Kindel – Goalkeeping Academy Coach & Head Coach of CMFSC Premiere Women’s Team
Dennis is also another Metro-Ford product playing for the Metro-Ford Grasshoppers from 1993-1997, winning a National Championship in 1995. Dennis holds a B National Coaching License and is a former youth National team player, SFU and Capilano College player, and former Doncaster Rovers FC (England) player. Dennis is CMFSC’s goalkeeping coach as well as the BCSA, UBC Men’s, and CMFSC Y-League Goalie Coach.
Giovanni Valente – Boys Initiation Academy & Player Academy
Giovanni, brother of Alfredo Valente, is another former Metro-Ford youth player. Giovanni currently coaches for CMFSC in the Initiation Academy as well as other Club Academies. Giovanni was also a youth Provincial Team player and currently plays on the Simon Fraser University varsity team. He is currently coaching our Under 14 Gold boy’s team this season.
Gordon Chin – Boys High Performance and Player Academy
Gordon is a former Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer player, playing first with the club at 11 years old. He has since then has had many different experiences playing all over the world and eventually finding his home this season with the Vancouver Whitecaps Men’s Professional team. The Whitecaps is the 4th USL club that Gordon has played with spending seasons with Edmonton Aviators, Toronto Lynx, and the Charleston Battery. Gordon has also played professionally in other parts of the world playing in 2008 in the Chinese Jia League and with the Youth and Reserve Teams in Portsmouth England. Gordon has also represented Canada at the Under 20 level as their co-captain reaching the quarter finals at the U20 World Cup 2003 in United Arab Emirates as well as on the Under 23 Olympic team that attempted to qualify for the 2004 Athens Olympics.
Greg St. Germain – Initiation Academy
Greg has strong ties with Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club. He spent his youth playing for Metro-Ford and was one of the club’s top players. Greg went on to play at Simon Fraser University and was a two time All-American. He was also a member of the Under 20 National Team. He played his professional soccer with the Vancouver 86ers and Dundee United. This is the fourth year that Greg has worked with our minis and we are pleased to have him again this season.
Jeremy played his varsity at the University of Victoria from 2003-2005 and at Capilano College from 2005-2007. Jeremy currently plays in with the Fraser Valley Premier league. Jeremy has coaching experience with the Chris Bennett Soccer Academy as well as with the CMFSC Soccer Camps.
Joey Scigliano – Boys High Performance Academy, Player Academy, & Development Program
Joey has excelled at all levels of the game. Starting in his teen years playing in England with Stoke City FC in the 1st division and then coming back to Vancouver and playing with the Vancouver 86ers from 1995 to 2001. He also played Indoor with the Philadelphia Kixx from 2001-2004. Joey excelled at the National level as well playing with the Under 17 & Under 20 National teams, the U-23 Olympic team, and the Canadian Men’s National Team. He has received many accolades over the years including 86ers top scorer – 1999 and BC Soccer player of the year in 2007, to name only a few. Joey holds a B-National license and has coached with CMF since 2004. Joey was the Head Coach this past summer of our Under 13 Boys Y-League Team.
Keegan Ayre – Boys Player Academy
Keegan is a Metro-Ford product, playing youth soccer for the club. He currently is also a member of the CMFSC Wolves Premier Men’s Team. For such a young player he brings with him a wealth of experience playing professionally with Hibernian FC in Scottish Premier League. He has also represented Canada playing with the Under 17, Under 20 and Under 23 National teams. He was on the 2007 Under 20 team that competed in the U20 World Youth Cup in Canada as well as represented Canada at the U23 Beijing Olympic qualification tournament in the United States.
Les Krivak – Boys Player Academy
Les has 10 years experience coaching with CMFSC and has been very successful. Most recently he led the CMF Sparta to a Provincial Championship and a third place finish at the National Championships in the 2009-2009 season. He holds his National B license and is currently working towards his A-license. He was also a Whitecaps Prospects coach for the 2007 season. Les has also been a player/coach for Sloan FC and FVSL.
Neil McGregor – Initiation Academy & Girls Player Academy
Neil needs no introduction as our Mini Madness guru. Playing soccer for many years in the Tri-City area, most recently for Metro Ford. Neil has been involved in the Mobilio’s summer camps as well as other Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club programs for the last 8 years and is a favourite coach to many. Neil currently is the Assistant Coach of the Under 16 Metro Girls and holds a B-Prep certification.
Oliver Heald – Girls High Performance Academy
We are very fortunate to have Oliver taking a coaching role with CMFSC. He has a much decorated playing background, starting with Youth National teams at the Under 16 & Under 19 Levels as well as the Olympic team level. He played in England from 1993-1996 with Portvale FC and Scarboro United. When he returned to Vancouver he played with the 86er’s until he retired with the Whitecaps in 2004 and he is on the Whitecaps All-Time starting 11 team. He currently is the assistant coach with our Under 16 Metro Girls Team and assisted with the Under 15 Girls Y-League Team this past summer.
Rob Mazzarolo – Initiation Academy, Boys Development Program, & Boys Player Academy
Rob is a Coquitlam City and Metro-Ford product. Rob played first for Coquitlam City and then with Metro-Ford in his youth playing days. Rob currently coaches with our 1998 Select Boys team.
Tino Cucca – Initiation Academy, Boys
Tino began with his professional career with the Vancouver Whitecaps in the 2004 season. He also led Capilano College to the 2003 CCAA Soccer National Championships and was named tournament MVP and an All-Star for his efforts. In 2002, Cucca was the BCCAA Rookie of the Year for men’s soccer. He has also played for Canada's men's Under-17 Team.
Trevor Rosencrans – Initiation Academy Boys
Trevor currently players for the Metro Ford Wolves Premier team and has also played for the Abbotsford Mariners in the PDL league. He played varsity soccer at Trinity Western University where was a 2-time CIS Canada West All-Star and a 2-time CCAA National Champion. Trevor has experience coaching youth players through Richmond Youth Soccer and is also a highschool teacher.
